Kevin’s work is a fusion of the music he loves. It is built on a foundation of classical music, decorated with colors of film scores, musical theatre, classic rock, and Americana. He loves writing pieces that are emotionally engaging, colorful, easy to connect with on a first listen, but rewarding when listened to on repeat.
Composing music is a puzzle of sound and logistics, balancing the emotional and structural needs of a piece with the practical limits of what instruments and voices can do to serve those needs. Solving that puzzle, while creating something that resonates with an audience, is what keeps him excited about music.
Orchestrator & Arranger
A musical Samwise Gamgee, Kevin’s goal as an orchestrator and arranger is to help your project reach the end of its journey. His experience as a composer and his spirit as an educator ensure your collaboration will be one of artistry, support, patience, and peace of mind.
Educator
The most effective musical education develops complete musicians rather than teaching isolated skills or concepts. A complete musician is one who is connected to a larger, more diverse musical world, through sharper tools of observation, better understanding of concepts through context, has a healthy creative focus, and pragmatic career skills. Kevin’s goal is to create a learning environment in which students use their ears and eyes to better observe the musical world around them, so they can listen deeply, think critically, and connect ideas across disciplines, historical contexts, and musical traditions. I want students to become as versatile as possible to understand their own creative process, identify and pursue their passion projects, and know how to earn a living from work that will fuel a sustainable musical life.
